RETURNING FIREFIGHTERS

RETURNING GFP FIREFIGHTERS:  All returning firefighters MUST register online for 2010 training classes.  Registration is first come first serve and you will not be allowed in class if you have not properly registered.

Upon registration your name is placed on the class roster.  If you are NOT on the class roster, you will not be allowed to take the class.  NO WALK-INS WILL BE ALLOWED!

If you registered for classes in 2009 you should use the same account information to login to the registration system.  If you forgot your password you can retrieve it from the login page.

Once you login to the system you will need to update your personal information.  Please provide your current address and contact information as this will be used to contact you for dispatch.  Keep this information updated. 

If you register for a class and are unable to attend the class, login to your user account and un-register for that class.

Entry Level Firefighters

ENTRY LEVEL FIREFIGHTERS:   You will need to create a New Firefighter user account prior to class registration.  Please read the New Firefighter FAQ's prior to creating a user account.

In order to be hired for firefighting individuals must:

    (1) Be at least 18 years old;

    (2) Be a United States citizen;

    (3) Pass a physical fitness test;

    -----> [3 mile walk in less than 45 minutes wearing a 45 pound pack]

    (4) Pass the entry level training course.

Class Start Times

Sisters, Oregon classes:

GFP Employees see Start Time indicated upon registration.  The first day of RT-130 and S-130/S-190 Entry Level will involve the completion of our employment paperwork and orientation.

Non-GFP Employees start at 0930 hours on the first day of RT-130 and S-130/S-190 Entry Level. Remaining class days will begin at 0800 hours.

    For all other courses EVERYONE will start class as indicated upon registration.  All Pack-tests will be conducted at 1600 hours following Annual Refresher and Entry Level training.

    New Firefighters

    If you are NEW to wildland firefighting you will be required to take the following courses: S-130: Firefighter Training [30-36 hrs] and S-190: Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior [6-8 hrs].

    S-190 Objectives

    (1) Identify and discuss the three sides of the fire triangle; (2) Identify the environmental factors of fuels, weather and topography; (3) Describe the contributing factors that indicate the potential for increased fire behavior that may compromise safety.

    S-130 Objectives

    (1) Explain what the LCES [Lookouts, Communications, Escape Routes, and Safety Zones] system is and how it relates to the Standard Firefighting Orders; (2) Construct fireline to required standards using various methods; (3) Strengthen, reinforce, and use holding actions on a fireline; (4) Extinquish the fire with or without the use of water; (5) Complete assigned tasks in a safe and efficient manner.
